SUPPORT ST MARY'S

St. Mary’s has been educating children for over 150 years. In 2026, we celebrate the centenary of moving to our beautiful home on Fitzjohn’s Avenue. One of the oldest properties on the road, its listed building status makes it very special place.

As we begin our second century here, we are looking ahead with confidence, responsibility and excitement. We want future generations of children to benefit from the same exceptional opportunities, inspiring environment and caring community that have shaped so many lives.

By supporting our Bursary Fund, Green Fund and other areas of school life, you can help extend the opportunities that make a St. Mary’s education so special. Together, we can build on our proud history and help write the next chapter of the St. Mary’s story.

GIFT GIVING

BURSARIES

A St. Mary’s bursary can change a child’s life, and we’d like to keep doing that. We are committed to supporting families from the wider community who for financial reasons may not consider or have access to participation in independent education. We get it, it’s a huge investment.

Your support ensures that character and potential, not family circumstance, determines a future. With your help, we can open our doors wider. Let’s make a meaningful difference together.

Did you know? A transformational bursary costs £22,000 per child per year (over £150,000 per child for seven years). Any support, large or small, would be hugely appreciated.

GREEN FUND

You may have noticed St. Mary’s is primarily a dark blue school. That’s our brand, with a splash of red and yellow thrown in. But we’d like to be greener!

Our Victorian building is energy hungry. By investing in sustainable upgrades we can reduce our environmental footprint, protect our listed building and be more energy efficient. Your support towards new windows, solar panels and sustainable infrastructure is greatly appreciated. Any funds raised in excess of those required for Green Fund projects will be used to support the wider educational provision and ongoing running of the school.

Did you know? Our annual heating and electricity bill costs £58,000!

Regular Giving Fund

Regular gifts are the quiet engine of transformation at STMH. When members of our community commit to a monthly contribution, however large or small, they provide predictable income that allows us to plan confidently around emerging needs and initiatives for the benefit of all our pupils and the school.

A regular donation (£25, £50, £100 or £250 a month) does far more than its monetary value alone. No matter the size, it becomes part of a collective commitment to ensuring everybody here can thrive. We can turn your generosity into impact, and your compassion into lasting change. Thank you.

THE 1926 SOCIETY

The 1926 Society recognises those in our community who make an annual commitment of £1,926 to support St. Mary’s, whether through our bursary fund, regular monthly gifts or contributions to capital projects. Named in honour of our home on Fitzjohn’s Avenue, the Society brings together parents, alumni, staff and friends who believe in the STMH legacy and ensuring that everybody continues to benefit from outstanding opportunities.

Membership offers not only meaningful impact but also a closer connection to school life. 1926 Society members are invited to exclusive events throughout the year, including our Christmas Carol Concert and the Head’s Annual Lunch, where they hear directly about the difference they are making. By joining the Club, you become part of a dedicated circle whose generosity keeps our future bright. Your help today will build our tomorrow.
